We set up a parameter that allows good judgment to grow. To find what is best for ourselves we have to make some mistakes. We must get into situations and get ourselves back out. We have to stay out late and have a hard next day at work. Only through natural consequences can we learn to hold ourselves accountable. Once we can be responsible for ourselves, we can really get to know who we are and what we are made of.
Halfway Houses tend to micromanage and have a disciplinary approach to every aspect of a resident’s life. We believe our residents are perfectly capable of staying sober while learning from their mistakes. We don’t nit pick we think it does more harm than good.
